Frequently Asked Questions
What structural steel components does TAS fabricate?
We fabricate beams, girders, columns, base plates, bracing, platforms, stairs, pipe racks and custom support structures. Every member is cut, fitted and welded to your engineering drawings for industrial facilities, plants and infrastructure across Sint Maarten and the Caribbean.
What welding codes and steel grades do you fabricate to?
Our structural steel fabrication follows AWS D1.1 for welding, using common structural grades such as ASTM A36 plate and A992 wide-flange sections. Welds are made by qualified welders and can be verified by inspection, so the finished structure meets engineering and code requirements.
Do you handle both shop fabrication and on-site erection?
Yes. We fabricate structural steel in our shop and also carry out field welding and erection on site. This single-contractor approach keeps beams, columns and connections consistent from drawing to installed structure and reduces coordination on your project.
What is the difference between a beam, a girder and a column?
A beam is a general load-carrying member, a girder is a primary beam that supports other beams, and a column is a vertical member that carries the load down to the foundation. We fabricate all of them, plus trusses and frames, to your specification.
Which industries do you fabricate structural steel for?
We serve refineries, petrochemical plants, power utilities, ports and marine facilities, and general industrial construction. Our structures are built for heavy-duty, marine-grade Caribbean conditions where corrosion resistance and weld integrity matter.
How do you ensure the quality of structural welds?
We work to a welding procedure with certified welders, and critical welds can be checked with non-destructive testing. Fit-up, dimensions and welds are verified before delivery, so the structure is safe, square and ready to install.
Can you fabricate custom structural steel from our drawings?
Absolutely. Custom fabrication to engineering drawings is our core work, from a single support frame to a full structure. Send us your plans or requirements and we will review them and return a fabrication quote.
